An abscess is a localized collection of pus caused by a bacterial infection. It can develop anywhere in the body but is most commonly found around the skin, soft tissues, or anal region. Symptoms often include pain, swelling, redness, warmth, tenderness, and sometimes fever. If left untreated, an abscess can spread the infection and lead to serious complications.
